OBJECTIVE

To monitor consumption and reduce demand by implementing efficiency measures

SOLUTION

Aligned with our first step, we installed Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) devices to monitor consumption and flow profiles. We did a lot of work to reduce consumption by increasing efficiencies (tap aerators, toilet flushing mechanisms) and eliminating waste (leaks, over irrigation, faulty mechanism). We then designed and installed backup systems and rainwater harvesting with filtration.

RESULTS

The project has been running from June 2017, and over the 36 months , across 16 facilities, we managed to save close to 170 million liters of water. 170,463,770 liters to be exact! This had a total monetary value of approximately R7 million.
